Impact

Helping People Become Self-Sufficient.

We've had the privilege of maintaining a substantial economic impact on Merced County for the past 60 years.
Not only through the thousands of individual services we provide to the community, but through the gainful employment of over 150 staff, the regular support of over 250 local vendors, and the millions of dollars we circulate every year through our support services for disadvantaged and low-income residents. Community Action is a vital part of our communities overall economic security.

Summer Lunch Program
Each weekday from the first week in June through the last week of July, all children under the age of 18 can get a free lunch and do a fun activity! Kids do not need to be a WIC participant to participate.

Menus are provided so you'll know what to expect, and activity calendars are available so you can plan for the fun ahead! We host these lunches from 11am-12pm daily at our main location: 1235 West Main Street in Merced. Dates are announced at the beginning of each summer.
Empty Bowl Project
Created in 1990 by the Imagine Render Group, The Empty Bowl Project is an international effort that aims to raise both money and awareness in the fight to end hunger.

Throughout the year, MCCAA holds Painting Nights throughout Merced for community members to paint the bowls seen in the Empty Bowl fundraiser. Guests will keep the bowl they choose at the fundraiser, as a reminder of all the empty bowls in our community. All proceeds from this fundraiser go towards feeding unhoused community members at the “D” Street Homeless Shetler.

Success Stories

Derome

Derome met our Enhanced Care Management team while he was at the D St Shelter in April of 2023. After 11 years of being homeless, he now resides in a place he can call home. Derome says he is most thankful for our team's persistence and conviction in helping him through this journey.

Margarita

Margarita first heard about MCCAA’s Diaper Bank program at her son’s child development center. During these challenging times, Margarita says, the assistance this program provides is a big necessity in the community. Margarita carpools with her cousin regularly for her monthly supply of diapers.

Kat

Kat is a domestic abuse survivor who became homeless. She was able to connect with local organizations, including MCCAA, to find her way back to her kids and her life. Today Kat and her children are reconnected, healthy, and safe in an apartment of their own with the help of Enhanced Care Management.
