MCCAA plans on granting approximately $200,000 in Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing funds to the citizens of the City of Merced who will reside within the city limits. Funds are expected to be released the second week of November. It is expected that within the next 24 months, 100 families will be helped with sustaining their current housing, or locating housing if they have been displaced. Additional guidelines are outlined in the application, and applicants must meet income guidelines. The income guidelines are as follows:

Applications will be taken starting on October 29th, 2009 and continue until all funds are expended. Applications will be taken on Monday through Friday excluding holidays at the D Street homeless shelter located on the corner of 15th and D Streets within the City of Merced  (209) 725-8188.  Applications will be accepted from 10am to 6pm. Appointments will be scheduled once applicants are deemed eligible. Good contact phone numbers are imperative to making these appointments so please include them in your application. Proof of income for the prior 6 weeks and a complete application are required. If the application is for obtaining housing, a lease agreement must be presented. All applicants must meet HUD and Agency eligibility guidelines. Assistance is limited to a maximum of 4 months and case management sessions are required if assistance is received.

These funds are made possible through the American Recovery and Re-investment Act of 2009 and the City of Merced. People who are in danger of experiencing homelessness due to the current economy are encouraged to apply.
